About me

A bit about me and my approach

Hi I am Pauls, I work in a integrative humanistic relational approach to therapy. This is a varied talking style; it offers a range of communication rhythms. From active curious open minded talking, debating, processing thoughts, emotions and felt senses in our body and how as human beings our whole self interconnects in the way we think, feel, behave and get affected. It also provides a space too for the reflective quiet moments that you may need for when silence, contemplative time can help you find clarity. It offers a more tailored style to your needs.

My original working life prior to working in therapy full time, included consulting for companies; employees and executives in values and beliefs systems within organizations. I have spent many years in educating others of the emotional and therapeutic benefit of creativity. That as individuals in accessing and exploring our creativity we can provide a conduit for inner growth and find meaning in life.

I have mentored clients to tap inside themselves to find their creativity & discover other ways to express self in art and movement. This has included doing workshops with MIND North London clients and seminars with Creative Future on handling rejection and building resilience. I have also curated art exhibitions that have a psychological element;examinations of what it is to be human and the emotional landscape of life as well as hosting talks on the science of art and health.

My well-being and health training initially started in the body, looking at somatic responses to stress, I studied physiology, massage and use of essential oils.

I am informed of the latest and continuing developments on neuroscience and how the effects of the human psyche (mind-body) are interconnected.

Each client is unique and even though as human beings we may experience similar  symptoms, feelings and thoughts, we all have our own lived experience, views and interactions in the world. This affects us in a unique way in how we relate, react and get affected by events in our life and how we relate to others.

I work in a bespoke way and collaborative dialogic way with clients. I will build a therapeutic plan with you, so we can focus on any particular goals or needs that you have, and any immediate concerns in addition to what else comes up for you each week in our sessions.

Psychotherapy Education

As per the ethical approach of the UKCP/HIPC/WPI model, I have undergone myself weekly therapeutic analysis for over 7 years alongside my training. This ensures I practice ethically, free of bias in a non-judgemental way. I have studied psychodynamic and integrative humanistic models.

I originally trained in the traditional Psychodynamic style of counselling and Psychotherapy for three years.  I then expanded my use of Psychotherapeutic techniques in doing a Masters level advanced diploma in  Integrative Humanistic Relational models of Psychotherapy. This qualification includes extensive practice in working with stress & trauma and the effects on body as well as mind. This includes latest research in Polyvagal theory, Neuropsychology Physiology and best practice methods. This ensures a safe stable release system and working on an integrative mind-body way to process stress and trauma.

I have completed 7 years of theoretical and clinical training. I am in post completion of additional studies in Integrative Humanistic with UKCP as a trainee Psychotherapist. I continue to uphold the professional demands of keeping informed of latest theories and styles by doing CPD.
